The prehistoric wall
West of Viñales and 4km from the village, on a 617-meter cliff, at the foot of the “Sierra de Viñales” you will discover this 120m-long painting, painted in 1961 on the Pita Mogotes by Leovigildo González Morillo, follower of the Mexican artist Diego Rivera. It took 4 years and a team of 18 people to accomplish it. Snails, dinosaurs, marine monsters as well as the Indians drawn on the rocky cliff evoke the geological and biological evolution of the region. Some people will be impressed and others will find it terrible.
