On this journey, we will explore the Wall of Prehistory, a mural measuring 180m long by 120m wide, commissioned by Fidel Castro in 1961.

We will then proceed to the “Los Acuáticos” mountain, where we will dismount and hike a bit into the mountain, approximately 1 km on foot.

You will meet one of the last families with unusual beliefs regarding the therapeutic properties of water. Following this, you will be offered a “Guarapo,” sugarcane juice, all while enjoying an impressive view of the valley.

The path continues through a beautiful natural cave where you can take a refreshing swim.

You’ll have the option to purchase a snack for lunch.

Next, we will visit a tobacco plantation, where a local farmer born in the valley will explain the cultivation process and cigar making.

You will be presented with a cigar to enjoy on the spot. Learn about the origin of coffee, from the coffee plant to the roasting of the beans. Finally, indulge in a tasting of Guayabita del Pinar (traditional rum from Pinar del Río) and valley honey.

The typically Cuban setting of the Palmarito Valley is a Unesco classified and protected natural site that is sure to marvel you.

Wrap up the day with a traditional Cuban dinner in the family home of José-Manuel and Chrystel. If you are vegetarian or have intolerances, please let us know, and we will be happy to cater to your needs.

• The family home is a 15-minute walk from downtown Viñales. There are two options for the return journey: the first is on foot, allowing you to discover the typically Cuban and less touristy neighborhoods than the center; the second is to take a taxi.
